Made in Sheffield
May 11, 2004

Could Made in Sheffield be the sister film to it's Pennine opposite 24 Hour Party People? The DVD was released yesterday and is available from the, not highly informative website. It's a documentary charting the rise of electronic music in Sheffield from 77-82. There's more in this Guardian Unlimited feature by Romo stalwart Simon Price.

Saw Performance [see entry below] last night at the Electric Cinema... what a fantastic place. bar, armchairs, footstalls, excellent decor [restored to it's original Edwardian slendor]... If you're in the area, check out the Mau Mau bar down the road a piece as well. The cinema has a nice bar, but it's a tad pricey... And the Thai Market a few yards down and across the road does the best Thai food I've had. And it's cheap. But it's best to book.

Speaking of Performance there is a vaguely relevant article on symmetry in the current edition of the Tate gallery's magazine TateEtc. And talking of the Tate, there's also an piece on Edward Hopper prior to their major exhibition, opening on May 27th.
