Brighton Sand Sculpture Festival 2005
July 05, 2005

This made me laugh when I first read it. Brighton must have the pebbliest beach in Britain but it is going to host a sand sculpture festival this summer!

But... 10,000 tons of special sand will be shipped from Holland [they do good sand apparently, amongst other things] and deposited in Brighton Marina so that the 60 artists, from all over the world, can recreate the wonders of Ancient Egypt! As you do. I assume this won't be in the part of the Marina where the boats are moored!?!? There is a flickr page in anticipation of the event - not sure where the photo's already posted there are supposed to be from - As it hasn't started yet - But that's one of them above!

The festival runs from July 14 to September 11
11am to 8pm
£6 entry for adults
£5 for concessions
£4 for children aged 4-12
under-4s go free... Just don't let them try and kick them over when their finished!!!

Official Site: sandsculpturefestival.com [not that there's anything on it yet!]
