Urban Art 2005
June 29, 2005 Looks interesting. never been to an Urban Art event before but there is plenty of good, well priced art on their site - better than the over-priced rubbish I've seen in a lot of bars round these parts. I particularly like these digital works by William Woolf, as well as the naive style of Francesco Lietti .Saturday 16th July 2005 Josephine Avenue London SW2 Google Map: Josephine Avenue Comment | Permalink
Brixton Windmill and Chihuly Glass June 28, 2005 We had a great time at the Dale Chihuly exhibit at Kew yesterday - perfect weather/light for it too - I managed to slim the 97 pics I took down to 24 and put them up at Flickr. There's a pile of tickets by the phone now... B-Live, SW4, Global Gathering and Frida Kahlo Busy Summer coming up! Yet another fantastic Flickr app. over at Krazydad. Also... I found Brixton Windmill yesterday [not that it was lost], which I've been meaning to do for a couple of years now. And it's just by the sorting office - So every time I have to go and pick up something that hasn't been delivered I can have a look! It was our B-Live tickets this time!Brixton Windmill Google Map There's a pile of tickets by the phone now... B-Live, SW4, Global Gathering and Frida Kahlo Busy Summer coming up! Princess Superstar Returns June 21, 2005 Princess Superstar is returning in September with her fifth record and she's gone electro. On the upcoming My Machine, rapping over a skeletal, digital, gurgle produced by Jacques Lu Cont, Junior Sanchez, Armand Van Helden, Todd Terry and herself. My Machine is a 25-track, 80 minute concept album about a dystopian future world where kids are named after advertising slogans and entertainment is an archaic, outmoded concept—think Peaches meets Infinite Jest. My Machine is out September 13 on !K7. Just downloaded the accapella to the single Coochie Coo - So expect a remix here soon. ![]() My Machine artwork Comment | Permalink
Trafalgar Roof Garden June 20, 2005 Popped into the Trafalgar Roof Garden in Trafalgar Square before the theatre. Very Niiiice! This is the view from the bar. This little Flickr Flash photo album is cool. Try to get to see "As You Like It" at the Wyndhams If only for the music. Dark Chansons! By Tim Sutton [ My searching for a link in Google only threw this up - I assume it's the same chap!] Comment | Permalink
Flickr in Print June 17, 2005 Check this article from internet news.com. Flickr are going to add a Print on Demand Service to create photo books. Opening up new markets to Flickr users, letting them share their photos with those who prefer paper. Should see the creation of some interesting projects. I wonder what the cost will be like? Real Life Super Mario Power Ups! June 09, 2005 Some guy called Poster Child in Windsor, Ontario, has been making these real life power up boxes and throwing them up into trees and over telegraph wires etc. They contain little gifts if you manage to get them down. So if you live over there, what are you waiting for? get out and find some. Preferably with local lad Ritchie Hawtin/Plastikman on your iPod [or player of choice - Not that I have an iPod, I just assume everyone else has these days. My minidisc is good enough for me]. Son Of Dave June 04, 2005 Hey! Son Of Dave! Crash Test Dummies guitarist Benjamin Darvill solo project was just on Later. He's been compared to Steely Dan and Beck as he mixes Blues and techno grooves. Where Steely Dan come into that I fail to see. Sounds like he's got a few Tom Waits and Captain Beefheart albums at home to me. Rufus Wainwright and Acoustic Ladyland [must dig out my old MC5 albums] were pretty damn good too. That's given me something new to go out and buy... Must get onto Rough Trade again - Since they re-vamped their website I seem to have fallen off their mailing list. I've got a few things I want to try out that I've seen on those Swell Music "Jukeboxes" -They seem to own the swellmusic.co.uk domain, but there's nothing there, so e-mail them on info at the above address to find out more. I Was in the Brixton Lounge yesterday and picked up one of their leaflets. You never can tell if they are actually playing the stuff on them though, but there were a few interesting things on this list - Notably Africanism Vol III and The Glimmers DJ Kicks album Comment | Permalink

Maybe I'll ask if I make it down there! Check out David Wheeler's Landscapes. I like them, but there are some startling similarities to completely distant locations. Golden fields, Siena60cm by 60cm 2005 £950 Claviers, Provence60cm by 60cm 2005 £950 See what I mean? Anyway - I'll give them a closer inspection if I get a chance to get down there. Got a kitchen to decorate in the meantime and I appear to be strangely addicted to BB5 - Which is odd as I've never been remotely interested in the previous incarnations! Odd Huh?!?!
