Mad Dreams #2
November 06, 2007

Earlier in the week [Monday I think] I had been trapped behind an endless wall of darkness picked out with pinpricks of neon light. These pinpricks were holes and it was my job to connect these together with some sort of luminous stretchy material. I think I must have been able to float in this as I don't recall having any difficulty reaching any of them. The wall turned out to be the the inside of Wikipedia and it was my task to join all of the hyperlinks together!

Each morning this week I've woken up, exhausted, with neck and shoulder pain, splitting headaches and a sore throat and lungs from the coughing. It's like the events in these dreams are happening to an alternate me in a place similar to here that has evolved ever so slightly differently and occasionally these events reach me when I'm asleep. I often dream of the same locations or if it is a different location I know that somewhere from a previous dream is nearby. I often dream of real places that I have lived in but now contain previously undiscovered rooms.

Many years ago I had a dream where I had killed somebody and buried the body in the garden in a shallow grave. It was so realistic I had to get up and check the garden to reassure myself it wasn't true! It wasn't anybody I knew and I don't think I even dreamt the act of doing it, it was just the feeling that it had happened. My dreams can range from absurd to sexual to violent to mundane. I often wake up on the verge of solving something that just slips away as I wake up. Sometimes they carry on when I drift off to sleep and they wake me up again. I'm usually convinced I haven't slept for hours during these but I expect I have and it's just my mind being over active when I go to bed. Like when I used to play Tetris on a Gameboy for ages and then see rotating tumbling shapes as I tried to drift off to sleep.

Who needs Second Life? It's my own Virtual Reality, Metaverse or Matrix [whatever]. All seemingly unmappable and with a warped concept of time. Are places in dreams like movies because you've seen those movies and they are easy points of reference or because those creating them have equaly vivid dreams?

Categories: I don't have a mad dreams category! But I wouldn't have had any November posts without them.

This site is the work of Steve Wilde - featuring my various digital projects - music, art and photography - as well as this blog. An online aide memoire for whatever I intend to do, may have done or otherwise wished I had the time to do.
