To Pefkos
July 16, 2008

SpiderWe arrived at Hotel Filimon in Pefkos at 18:00 local time and it's still 30 degrees at this hour but with a very strong wind. getting out of jeans etc we go straight out for a little explore and I get myself re-acquainted with the Mythos at Lee Taverna.

After popping back for a shower we head off to Nefeli Rooftop Restaurant for dinner where we are amused by a little boy running around mimicing the waiters.

Ordering a couple of Ouzo's, from an adult of course, we sit back and consult the menu. I've said that I will have a Greek Salad everyday while we are here but it's been a long day and I'm hungry, so I'll start that tomorrow.

Hummus, tsatziki, aubergine and taramasalata dips
Dolmades
Stuffed Tomatoes & Peppers
Mousaka
And a bottle of the local red.

Afterwards we are given a glass each of Mastika, a pine digestif, which grows on you after the initial sip. Pefkos is the Greek word for pine and there are indeed pine trees everywhere.

When we get back to the hotel a little kid, that we later learn is the son of the Scottish couple that run the reception and an avid creepy-crawly fan, asks us if we want to see a "really big spider". See the picture! So we go off to bed hoping that it can't get under the door.
