American HotelWell, I didn't send as many Tweets as I thought I would but I "Checked In" via Brightkite at most places in Amsterdam. You know how it is!?!

I took a random selection of photos that I'm sifting through [none of tall, narrow buildings or canals though] and Sam and I went to the Van Gogh Museum, so it wasn't all devoid of culture!

Some Tweets I might have sent if I had been a bit more on the ball include:

"Row of 3 prostitutes in their individual windows, two doing their best to drum up trade, the third eating a huge piece of cake"

"A guy texting with both hands, while cycling!"

"Stick thin guy outside the Bulldog just seems to shuffle about in an orange jumper and bum fags all day"*

"In the fantastic Outland Record Shop"

"Dim Sum in the American Hotel"

"Walking through crowds back to station, hysterical giggling and the urge to ask complete strangers "You Like Mammoth?"**

Anyway, a great few days away and now some interesting things I've spotted on my return...

Untitled: Street Art In The Counter Culture looks a good buy at £14.95 plus P&P.

Ray Lee's Force Field performance at the Bishopsgate Institute is part of the Kinetica Museum series and is at 7.30 on Nov 20th.

Force Field is a new performance installation from sound artist Ray Lee. By interacting with the electromagnetic 'force field' that surrounds the theremin, Ray activates and controls a series of kinetic sound machines, creating music and movement from the ether. Somewhere between a Victorian illusion, a performance of electronic music and a scientific demonstration, Force Field is an exploration of invisible forces made tangible, audible and physical.

Also in November, well known art world restaurant - Bistrotheque - will swap the East End for Mayfair to open a temporary restaurant, Flash. The restaurant has been designed especially for GSK Contemporary Season at the Royal Academy. Flash will be a room within a room, an installation within an exhibition. I'm particularly interested in seeing Maya Roos work.

Streatham Artists Open Studios
runs from 12th-14th September and gives you the opportunity to buy work direct from local up-and-coming contemporary artists. Work on show will include paintings, photographs, print making and sculpture. There will be a preview evening on the Friday which runs from 6.00 - 8.30pm. Then on the Saturday and Sunday, they will be open from 11.00am to 6.00pm.

Must find time to watch this Saul Bass clip, Saul Bass On Titles, on You Tube

*He was there two days in a row, so I have no reason to believe he doesn't do it every day.
**I blame Kev, he started it.
