Broadway Market
September 27, 2008

Took advantage of the sunny weather and ventured over to Broadway Market in Hackney today. It's a surprisingly quick journey from Tulse Hill, despite having to get four trains! Train to London Bridge, change to Northern Line to Moorgate, Moorgate to Liverpool Street. Then a train to Cambridge Heath. All done in slightly under an hour if all the trains are on time.

We popped into the Dove pub first and would have tried any of the tasty sounding dishes if it wasn't for heading to Trev's for Pom's Thai dinner later. In the end we had acouple of beers and a "pint" of chips and some bread and olives. Oddly enough the kitchen staff look as though they are Thai there although the pub does a lot of Belgian food and beers. Sam had a Kreik and I had a Delirium Tremens.

We then had a stroll up and down the market, getting some bread, cheese, olives and Coppa at various stalls. There are a few shops too, including Art Vinyl and the Broadway Bookshop. Wee Birdy has a good coverage what there is to be found. Nice little market with a great vibe.

We popped back into the Dove for another drink, before we set off on the four train marathon back to Tulse Hill, and the barman recommended a Grimbergen beer as I couldn't make up my mind. Very nice it was too, despite the name!

Had we not been eating Thai that night we could have had it for lunch, sitting on the deck of the Oliekop, a bright yellow barge on the Regents Canal that is run by Project A.
