Preying Mantis - Steve Wilde [Flickr]We had free tickets to see Franz Ferdinand on Monday but the previous few days had caught up with us and we needed a night in.

Thursday we nipped off to Rojales [near Alicante] to gatecrash Sam's folks holiday for 5 days. After all the storms in London the day before we left we thought we had bought the weather with us when we woke up to cloud on Friday morning. We were told they hadn't had any rain since April so we ventured out anyway... And it was still 34 degrees, but it did spit a little before brightening up in the afternoon. The rest of the time it was scorchio, well in the high 40's and only really suited to reading by the pool and drinking cold beer.

I didn't take many photos but did get some good shots of a Praying Mantis [see pic] that we found shinning up Sam's chair leg one morning. Gruesome isn't it? Especially when their heads move to check you out!

Tuesday we went to see Simon Amstell do a warm up show at the Pleasance Theatre off Caledonian Road. As always seems to be the case there it was a late start but it was worth the wait once he got going. Look out for the tour, very funny. Not sure if Eddie Izzard thought so or not, he left at the interval.
