Walking Out Of Macbeth's Mind
August 04, 2009 Well, Macbeth on motorbikes was pretty good. Spoiled a bit by the general hubbub of the South Bank, including some herbert who lobbed a beer can over the fence and what I assume was actually the generator for the event itself. Therefore, despite being amplified, the whole thing was quite difficult to hear. Not that there was a lot of dialogue, it being only 60-ish minutes and largely interpretive. Still, it was nice warm night for a bit of outdoor theatre. I particularly enjoyed the Zodiac Mindwarp style costumes! The free cocktail in the NT Terrace Bar was a bonus as well. Vodka, apple juice, honey vodka and pressed ginger. Hell, it almost tasted healthy! And it was so nice out we sat outside there drinking until about 12:30. Most civilised for London I thought. Walking In My Mind I'm in two minds about too. I probably liked about 50% of it, but it had been a long week and an exhibition wasn't the best of ideas for a Friday night in retrospect. I think I understood where Yoshimoto Nara, Thomas Hirschhorn, Yayoi Kusama, Chiharu Shiota were coming from... and maybe Pipilotti Rist and Jason Rhoades. But not the rest I'm afraid. Check out this short video from the Guardian to have a quick squint of what is in the show. Saturday's visit to Brighton wasn't looking too promising weather wise, when we finally got out of bed. So we didn't rush down there early and the weather just got worse and worse the nearer we got. There were loads of bedraggled folk boarding trains home from the Pride Parade by the time we arrived. Luckily Kev was covered by a gazebo whilst BBQ-ing, so our grub didn't get soggy and not too much muck got traipsed into their new home. Even more fortunate was the fact that it was a pretty short walk to Paul & Sarah's for the more "hardcore" leg of the weekend.... And, approximately 26 hours after we arrived in Brighton, we left again for a some much needed sleep. I've been paying for it all today mind! So, instead of creating a new homepage I'm writing this and been perusing these little gems. Since doing my stripe images I've come across a handful of similar works by others in a variety of media. The latest being Tim Bavington. The colours of his more recent stripe paintings are dictated by the notes of various rock tunes. Which made me think of Stefanie Posavec's Writing Without Words project. And these Processing and Flash works by Quasimodo as well. Particularly the prime number stuff on page 4. Not related at all, but equally marvellous, are these X-ray images by Nick Veasey, which I cam across via a random tweet I saw yesterday. Hmmm, that didn't take too long to type, might have to go back to that home page... Or maybe I could just find some new apps for my shiny new G1. Shame Evernote haven't got one yet. Or Blogger for that matter! Categories: Art, London, Photography, Food & Drink, Theatre, Technology Comment | Permalink Comments: Post a Comment
