Come Rain Come Shi*e
September 11, 2009

It looks cloudy out of the window again this morning and I can’t face an omelette for breakfast, so Sam brings me some bread up to the room, which I eat before we head out to catch the dolmus to the beach. It’s nice with bright blue skies at the beach and before long I’ve dozed off catching up on the sleep I missed last night, only to wake up a couple of hours later to find it’s completely clouded over and is starting to rain. That combined with my stomach hurting again sends us scurrying back to the hotel to continue reading on the balcony.

I can’t fathom out why about a dozen full water taxis pass by heading to the beach. About an hour later as thunder rattles overhead they all come back again along with a couple of low flying army helicopters and a water ambulance. With that excitement over the rain stops and by 5.00 its all calm again. No sign of the cloud lifting though but its still plenty warm. I decide to take some Immodium, just in case, followed by three medicinal Raki’s before we head back to Saki for dinner.

We are lucky to get a table. Many of the restaurants only have outdoor seating so anywhere with any slightly covered areas are busy tonight. White beans in sauce and hummus to start, followed by spicy chicken and chicken skewers. Excellent food again and we feel quite smug watching people being turned away once it is full.

There is more heavy rain in the night, so loud it wakes us up.
