| Since
"Going Digital" in 1999 I started recording tracks
with Kevin Phillips under a couple of guises. KSX
became the outlet for our breaks and beats and otherwise
harder material, whereas Porntsar represented
our funkier offerings.
During this time, as I have a tendency
to stay up all night, I produced a stock of tracks that
didn't really fit in either camp. Somewhere between deep
house and Underworld. So I decided to put a collection of
them together and started trying out the various DRM sites
about at the time. like mp3.com etc. Finally settling on
ampcast.com, as they offered a better CD purchasing option,
I released hyperreal and supercool as starck,
to suggest the minimal feel I hope comes across in the tracks.
The album title came from a phrase in a book called Hard,
Soft And Wet by Melanie McGrath
The ampcast connection didn't last long
and for 2002's Advanced Emotional Engineering
I decided I would be just as well to produce the CD myself
and promote it through this website. Another album title
taken from a book. This time, Brave New World by Aldous
Huxley.
The tracks from these two albums are currently
unavailable, until I get it together to get them posted
elsewhere but I hope to get the third album, Me++
out on CD some time this year. You can hear a few tracks
over at MySpace
During
2001/2002 I put up some of the parts from a few tracks on
this website as downloadable zip files and invited other
artists to remix the tracks which resulted in Ctrl
U being remixed by Pace, from
Australia, X-Ray Specs, in the UK and
Frank Goss, from France. If you want to have a
go, the files are on the left. Just e-mail
me when you're done.
In return I have also remixed various
artists, including two tracks for X-Ray Specs"
and one each for Lefthands and Franck
Goss.
I also collaborated with Romanian outfit
The GrooveOholics to produce Jackie Snow
during this time.
